Gastronomy of Sinj and Cetina Region Presented at Grand Gourmet in Makarska!

The gastronomic and enological offer of the Sinj and Cetina region was successfully presented last night at the third edition of the Grand Gourmet Festival in Makarska.

An international competition for waiters, bartenders, baristas, taverns and restaurants – Grand Gourmet began on November 7, 2017, in Makarska at the Meteor Hotel. The competition ended on Friday, November 10, 2017.

During the festival, Makarska becomes one of the central gastro-scenes of Dalmatia, Croatia, and even in the entire region. For this occasion, over one hundred competitors from Croatia and seven other countries participated. Over three days, they competed in many individual and team categories for the waiters and bartenders to the gastronomic evaluation of restaurants and taverns.

As part of the morning program of the event, lectures and educational workshops took place, while the afternoon was reserved for the competitions and presentations. Yesterday, as part of the evening presentation, the rich gastronomic and enological offer of the town of Sinj and the Cetina region was presented.

For this occasion, the town of Sinj was represented by Zlatko Ugrin, Deputy Mayor, Monika Vrgoč, Director of the Tourist Board of Sinj, Alen Poljak, winner of 302nd Čoje, and the winner of the 302nd Sinjska Alka, Josip Vučić.

At the presentation, guests tasted some of the most famous Sinj specialities such as Sinj arambaša, uštipak, and hrvaština and maraština, the outstanding wines of the Sinj region. In addition to this traditional offer, the gingerbread from OPG Župić and the Alkar cocktail by the region’s world-famous bartender, the cocktail maestro Jure Vojković, was also presented. Vojković competed with this cocktail at the World Cocktail Championships in Tokyo in 2016.

The Sinj specialties for this occasion were prepared, with attention to detail, by the famous Sinj restaurants “Alkar”, “Dubrovnik”, and “Vila Rustika”. The uštipak was made with love by the Old Town Crafts Association, and OPG Mažurin made everyone red with wine. As part of the cultural entertainment program, members of the Association for the Preservation of the Heritage of the Cetina Region performed.
