MG club d’Italia from Italy (founded in 1973 in Rome) has included Croatia in their calendar of events this year. Thus, these lovers of classical automotive design and techniques will visit both Sinj and Split!

The Croatian Adriatic will act as the beautiful promenade for the MG old-timers this summer – how could you find something better anywhere else?heir journey begins on June 23rd in Novigrad, and then slowly – because these cars will not sacrifice their stylistic beauty for speedy effects – coast all the way down to Split where they will end their voyage by embarking on a ship to Italy.

27 MG cars and 60 club members will leave the seaside route on July 1, 2017, and head inland for a visit to Sinj. The official photographer of the Tourist Board of Sinj will perpetuate their arrival photographs at the Alkar Racecourse, and the cars will then travel on Brnaš Street and park at the A. Stepinac Promenade.

During their stay, the Italian guests will visit the Sinjska Alka Museum, the Church of the Miraculous Lady of Sinj and get acquainted with the cultural and historical heritage of the Cetina region.

You might be wondering by now: How did this well known, old-timers club from Italy decide to visit Sinj?

When it comes to enthusiasts, especially enthusiasts and lovers of all things “old”, Sinj is where it all begins and ends. The Alka Museum particularly, a burial ground full of treasures from hundreds of years ago, is the epitome of old-timer perfection.

This is how the great lover of Sinj and Sinjska Alka Antonio Sanna, a representative of Sartiglie from Sardinia, suggested this meeting to tourist leader Jelena Vrančić, a woman from Sinj with a Split address. Thus, on May 26th, Pier Luigi Fusaroli and his wife visited Sinj and met with Jelena and Monika Vrgoč, director of the Tourist Board of Sinj, to arrange a number of details for this demanding organizational visit.

Luigi Cozzoli, a member of this club and the winner of Sartiglie, said he could not hide his excitement about visiting the Alka Museum, and that this summer he plans to attend the Sinj Alka with Antonio Sanna.

MG Club d’Italia plans to visit Dalmatia again in 2019.
