The play ‘The Siege of Sinj 1715.’ will take place tomorrow, August 11th at 20.30h at the main square and fortress Kamičak in Sinj.
In memory of the glorious defense of Sinj from the Ottoman invasion and as part of this year’s “Days of Alka and the Assumption”, the battle of Sinj in 1715 and the events that preceded it will be staged.
The play ‘The Siege of Sinj 1715.’ takes place in two acts. The first act begins at the market, the main market in Sinj, when the Ottomans conquered Sinj town, burning the church and taking people into slavery. Mustafa-paša Čelić triumphantly roamed through with his carriage, arrogantly announcing that he will easily conquer the fortress of Sinj, a place where people took refuge with a handful of soldiers and a picture of the Mother of God.
Unlike previous years, the second act of the play will be staged at fortress Kamičak, where the Council of Defense has defended the castle from the many times more powerful enemy. There will be a coronation of Our Lady of Sinj with a prayer of reconciliation as this year marks the 300 year anniversary of the image.
The author of dramatic template staging is prof. Velimir Borković, along with director Rade Perković. The spectacle will be attended by members of the Sinj folk theater, horsemen from Alka Knights Society, Alka stud horses, and carriage house carers Davor Ivković and Ivica Kurobasa.
The show is organized by the Tourist Board of Sinj, and will be held on August 11 (Thursday) at 20.30 at the market.
