Great news for the farmers and growers of the Vrgorac area!
After successfully withdrawing 8 million HRK from European and national funds, the small team from the Entrepreneurial Center in Vrgorac created the project ‘Think globally, buy locally’ and ‘Days of Young Wine’. Public funds were granted by the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, reports Dalmatinski Portal l on November 19, 2017.
The project is designed to connect farmers and growers from the Vrgorac area and unify their available products and quantities to a broader market. As part of the plan, a website will be created under an umbrella that will form the databases for all family farms, their products and available quantities. Additional efforts will be made in marketing and branding. Interested customers will be able to choose the type of product and the manufacturer through the website, and with one click, will be able to achieve direct communication. An Android application is also in the process of obtaining a patent.
Representatives of accommodation and catering facilities from the Makarska Riviera have also been invited to join the effort because market analysis concluded that a considerable part of the product could be delivered in this area during the tourist season.
The realization of the project began successfully. At the ”Pilač” winery in Vrgorac, 20 exhibitors gathered who offered their products to the participants at the tasting. Additionally, a lecture was held for OPG representatives on the importance of marketing their products, followed by a talk on wine production and the importance of maintaining indigenous grape varieties. There was also an expert evaluation of the accompanying samples of young wine from Vrsar winemakers.
