Vrlika is booming!
August 31, 2018 – Interest in Vrlika over the last 4 years has grown tremendously. Accordingly, the Tourist Board of Vrlika has organized professional educational workshops for the locals in the town to encourage them to open and operate private accommodation facilities. Vrlika currently has 9 private renters and 56 beds.
This year, in the last 8 months, Vrlika has recorded an 80% increase in tourist arrivals (567 arrivals) and tourist overnights (2427 nights) compared to the same period last year. Only 16% of tourists are Croatians, and 84% are foreign tourists.
Most foreign tourists come from Poland, Germany, Slovenia, the Netherlands, and Italy.
Of course, these figures are small compared to the coastal areas, but for Vrlika, they are enormous given the effort invested and certainly a further boost to work to revive tourism in rural areas that have so much to offer, from cultural sights to natural beauties and gastronomic offerings and manifestations like the opera Ero s onoga svijeta.
