The Minister of Tourism Gari Capelli arrived in Dubrovnik today for a meeting with tourism stakeholders in the Dubrovnik area.

Before the meeting, Cappelli hung out with tourists and citizens on Stradun, along with mayoral candidate Mato Franković, deputy mayoral candidates Jelko Tepšić and Orlando Tokić, county prefect Nikola Dobroslavić and state secretary Fran Matušić. On this occasion, Cappelli said that today’s meeting with tourism stakeholders would be to see if this area is ready for the upcoming season, reports Dubrovacki Dnevnik on May 27, 2017.

Gari Cappelli expressed his full support for HDZ mayoral candidate Mato Franković and country prefect Nikola Dobroslavić.

“These brilliant people, led by the county prefect and future mayor Franković, have the knowledge and vision of development and employment in Dubrovnik, and I am sure that at today’s meeting we will confirm presenting their projects. I think this city and the county can achieve even greater success with them,” said Cappelli.

The Tourism Minister also referred to the problem of labor shortages in the sectors of tourism and hospitality throughout the season.

“This is a problem that has been ongoing since we joined the European Union. We were not well enough prepared, and this was to be expected,” said Cappelli, who added that the government has a program to resolve this issue through competence and dual education, eventually.

When asked about Maestral Hotels, Cappelli said that the administration had extended the mandate.

“In the coming days, the competition will be launched and we are preparing for it. We know that there will be quality investors who would be interested in Maestral. Dubrovnik deserves that,” said Cappelli.

HDZ’s candidate for mayor Mato Franković said he was honored and pleased that the Minister of Tourism, which is the primary industry in Dubrovnik, came to support him and Dobroslavić.

“Dubrovnik has never had a mayor who comes from the tourism sector. This will be the first time that I, as a future mayor, will come from a key position of tourism – knowing all the problems and all that is necessary for the City of Dubrovnik,” concluded Franković.
