Three Canadairs Fight Blaze in Dubrovnik Littoral

Total Croatia News

More than fifty firefighters are tackling the blaze near Točionik village in the municipality of Dubrovnik Littoral. The area caught on fire on Sunday afternoon, reports Dubrovnik.net on July 3, 2017.

Firefighting Commander of Dubrovnik-Neretva County Stjepan Simović said the large open area between the villages of Trnovica and Visočani caught fire, and that they are still facing a lot of work due to strong winds and the terrain configuration that makes the area innaccessible.

“The fire still hasn’t been localised, it’s a big surface, the blaze is situated far away and we have to do everything manually, without any equipment”, said Simović, adding they were helped by three canadairs, one of them coming from Split. The situation, even though still uncertain, doesn’t seem to present any kind of danger for the nearby villages.
