There is another very practical way to get around Korčula, if you don’t have your car available – or, let’s face it, even if you do!
Electric car, electric little train (although it’s obviously not a train, but that’s what I called it while trying to find information), electric go-cart has been doing rounds around Korčula in the past two years, and will continue to do so in 2018 tourist season. It’s owned by Frano Jeričević, young Korčulan entrepreneur, and the main thing you need to know about it is that it will help you get around Korčula if for any reason whatsoever you don’t really feel like walking.
For 10 kuna per person, it will get you to the Tommy shopping centre, where most cars of the people staying in Korčula during thesummer are parked.
It will help you get to any of the hotels around Korčula: hotel Marko Polo, hotel Liburna, Port 9 resort – the price or the ride to Port 9 is 70 kuna per round (not per person). The cart will also take you to Dominče ferry port, in case you really need to get on a ferry without a car for any reason (or some of the catamarans that stop there), also for 70 kuna per round.
The cart fits 5 people comfortably, and there’s more than one available if you’re a bigger group.
One of the key features, and something that’s really important on Korčula is that people who’re less mobile can ride the cart to any of the restaurants “around the town”, where there’s basically no other option to get to, except to walk – or get this cart to help you, because it is small enough and has the permit to go through to help customers. The restaurants that are made accessible to the customers with this service are numerous, let’s mention just a fraction of them: Lesic Dimitri, Filippi, Nonno, Marendin, Morski Konjic, Tedeschi and many others.
There’s also an option to organize a tourist, panoramic tour around Forteca, and you can also ask for a wine tour of Lumbarda, where you will have the option to visit up to three wineries for tasting (Bire, Zure, Popić or others, as agreed with the driver in advance), go to the famous Lumbarda beaches, go through the Grk vineyards and smell the soil and sand that allow Grk to grow there.

In addition, you will probably see the cart around Korčula all the time, so you can hitch it for a ride that way as well – but it’s probably better if you plan and call in time, especially for any of the longer rides during peak season.
Many famous people have been using the cart in the past two years, including Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the current Amir of Qatar who visited Korčula on his 300 million dollar yacht, but then rented the cart to help him get around the town, Goran Ivanišević, Ivica Kostelić and numerous Croatian celebrities. And of course the contestants in the World Top Model Croatia taking place in Korčula have also taken the opportunity to ride in it.
