April the 30th, 2025 – The very first details about the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025 have been revealed. The 4th edition of this popular festival begins on May the 8th.

What does Etna, Stromboli or Magma taste like? Whose dough or creative combinations of top quality fillings will be the firm favourites? What surprises do the chefs from Zagorje have up their sleeves? Find out all this and more from May the 8th, when the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025 begins.

The favourite street food festival of many, dedicated to the most popular dish in the world, is coming to Zagreb’s Dr. Franjo Tuđman Square. It will be an oasis for all lovers of Italian gastronomy, music and culture until May the 18th. The Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025 is ready to delight the masses once again with a rich offer of the most diverse styles of pizza. There will also be plenty of twists and takes on pasta and other Italian delicacies in new, creative formats. There’s also an ever richer accompanying programme on the cards for this year, including workshops, quizzes, outdoor movies, DJ performances and kids’ activities.

Among the 11 booths in total, there are already proven masters such as Zagreb’s Al Dente, which will bring six pizzas with it for the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025, each of which represents the true art of flavour.

“Our pizzas tell a unique story, woven into the perfect dough that combines the tradition of classic Napoletana and Canotta, with pronounced, airy and puffed edges. On this specially designed base, we carefully arrange top-quality ingredients: Fior di Latte mozzarella, which we purchase from a small family dairy near Naples, and juicy San Marzano tomatoes and creamy burrata, also freshly delivered from Naples and from small local producers. Every bite reflects a passion for authentic taste and a real dedication to tradition,” they revealed from this respected Zagreb pizzeria.

At the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025, they will remain faithful to the much loved classics and present the following pizzas: Margherita di Bufala, Mortadela & Stracciatella, Prosciutto & Stracciatella, Piccante, Piccante 2.0 and Bresaola & Burrata.

Pizza Re, a pizzeria that has been delighting lovers of authentic Napoletana pizzas for the fourth year in a row, is also taking its place among the best at the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025. Under the leadership of the talented Cvetko brothers, Pizza Re has become an unmissable address for all those who appreciate top quality and love their food. This year, they’ll be bringing five irresistible pizzas to the festival: the classic Margherita, the rich Capriciosa, the fiery Picante, the popular Mortadella and their own special Pizza Re pizza.

Their secret lies in making dough that is left to ferment for at least 48 hours using specially certified flour approved by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN). The result? An incredibly light, soft and airy dough that will win you over from the first bite.

“If you missed the opportunity last year, now is the right time to experience what real Neapolitan pizza actually is. Visit Pizza Re at the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025 and enjoy the flavours that transport you straight to Italy in one single bite,” Pizza Re teased, adding: “If we had to highlight the trump cards from our offer, then we’d definitely pick out the Mortadella pizza, which combines the best of Italian tradition and modern flavours. On a light, airy base of 48-hour fermented dough, we place rich pesto Genovese, add creamy Fior di Latte mozzarella and premium mortadella, and round it all off with ground pistachios, fresh basil, black olives and aceto cream. Each ingredient has been carefully selected to create the perfect balance between salty, nutty and fresh notes. This pizza brings a sophisticated taste of Italy in every bite. It’s ideal for those who want something special and unforgettable.”

The legendary team from Pizza Social Club, which has been standing out for years with its quality, speed and unmistakably perfect pizzas, is also coming to the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025. They’re best known for their crispy pizzas with a fuller edge, which is a stylistic combination of Napoletana and Romana. After they delighted with their classics last year and received ovations for their Bianca, which they topped with truffle ricotta, flor di latte mozzarella, budjola, leek and crispy capers, they’re preparing new surprises for this year that we’re very much looking forward to.

Fans of the Sicilian style of pizza with a thicker dough will be delighted by the news that Zagreb’s RougeMarin, which is known for its Sicilian pizza, will participate in the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025.

“This pizza is also known as focaccia with toppings, so it’s also called ‘sfincione’, or in Sicily ‘sfinciuni’. There are several stages of preparation, starting from growing the starter cultures (yeast), which we do ourselves, to preparing and rising the dough and baking it. We put tomato sauce and grated mozzarella on the baked dough and bake it all together again. Finally, we serve it with fresh toppings,” they revealed from RougeMarine. They will arrive at the festival with five pizzas that, in turn, bring real eruptions of flavour. Four are named after active Italian volcanoes (all are around or in Sicily), while the fifth is named after volcanic magma.

Etna thus combines bolognese sauce, peas, mozzarella, gouda, brioche crumbs, marinated artichokes, marinated olives, pickled eggplant, pickled shallots and pickled mushrooms. Stromboli boasts tomato sauce, mozzarella, anchovies, marinated artichokes, pickled mushrooms, leccino olives, samphire and olive oil.

Vesuvio will impress with tomato sauce, mozzarella, roast beef, tonnato, pickled radish, capers and arugula. Vulcano, despite its name, comes with delicate notes of tomato sauce, mozzarella, artichokes, ricotta, basil and olive oil with garlic.

Magma, on the other hand, announces strong flavours with tomato sauce, mozzarella, spicy salami and honey with chilli.

Anyone who go better acquainted with it last year will surely be happy to hear that Zagyland is coming to the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025. They are the only pizzeria in the eastern part of Zagorje that makes pizzas exclusively according to the original Italian recipes with proven quality Italian ingredients.

In a short time, it has been recognised for its quality by both professional critics and everyday guests.

They premiered at last year’s pizza festival, so there’s no reason not to continue in the same vein. As has since been learned, for this occasion, Zagyland also preparing a unique pizza in Croatia. They revealed that this creation has nothing to do with kebab or pineapple. They’ll be bringing the festival a total of four pizzas: Margherita, Caesar, Surprise pizza and Zagyland pizza.

Fans of pizza fritta will be able to enjoy delicious fried pizzas to their heart’s content at the eponymous establishment. Pizza Fritta will be preparing new creative combinations of its popular calzone pizzas fried in deep oil, which captivate with their crispy dough and delicious melted filling.

An additional Italian touch to the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025 will be brought by the Pastemisee establishment, which prepares fresh pasta in Grana Padano cheese rings. It offers two dishes, the famous Italian Cacio e pepe, a creamy pasta in a cheese and toasted pepper sauce, and pasta with truffles, freshly grated in each serving. Pasta at Pastamisee Kućica isn’t just a meal, but an entire experience, as each serving is prepared in front of guests in giant cheese rings that attract attention.

“We delighted everyone at Advent in Zagreb, and now we’re back and we’re even better,” said the team from Pastamisee Kućica, in front of which huge queues formed a few months ago. Back then, they offered two types of creamy pasta that proved to be a hit, so they kept that unmistakable combination for the Zagreb Pizza Festival. But this time, they’ll come even more prepared for a huge crowd. We can’t wait to check it out!

Juraj Klepić is back with more innovative creations

Talented pastry chef Juraj Klepić will be in charge of making sure you get to try some real Italian gelato. After his popular Advent Dubai fritters, he managed to delight fans of pistachio, Belgian chocolate and kadaif even more with his Fry Dubai dessert at this year’s Asian Street Food Festival. We have no doubt that he’s already preparing a new sweet surprise for the Pizza Festival Zagreb 2025.

We’ve long since learned that everyone’s favourite creative cocktail is made by Ginglebells. This year, Ginglebells will also be mixing new special editions of cocktails and Spritzes that will evoke the true Italian dolce vita style of enjoying life with notes of basil. The central bar will once again be in charge and will accompany various Italian delicacies with excellent wines, sparkling wines, brandies, beers and various non-alcoholic drinks, once again delighting visitors with its fast and impeccable service.

The ultra-popular Food Quiz powered by METRO, directed and hosted by Domagoj Jakopović, is also returning. It’s a unique experience that combines excellent technique, authentic flavours, a jolly atmosphere and a perfect piece of pizza, just like we see on the streets of Naples. All that and more awaits visitors on Thursday, May the 15th at 17:00.

KitchenAid Croatia will also organise its first outdoor culinary workshop. The workshop is dedicated to making a real Neapolitan pizza, and will be led by renowned chef and KitchenAid ambassador Vedran Bošković, who will guide participants through every step – from the first gram of flour to the last crispy bite from the oven. It will be more than just a workshop: it’s more a two-hour experience filled with knowledge, smells and enjoyment.

Participants will learn how to knead the perfect dough using the KitchenAid Artisan mixer, how to understand fermentation, shape the dough like a true pizzaiolo, and what are the little secrets that go into making a truly great pizza. At the end, the participants will get to take home their own dough, ready for cold fermentation and baking the next day, a certificate of participation in the workshop, as well as a KitchenAid goodie bag to continue the inspiration at home.

Film lovers can expect two dates for Staropramen Movie Night, on May the 9th and 16th. Fun and entertainment for the youngest will also be provided by Zagi events with trampolines, bungee trampolines and inflatables. Art and wine lovers will be able to participate in the creative Pinelli and wine workshop, and on all days of the festival, an unforgettable atmosphere with timeless Italian canzone and world hits will be created by top DJs chosen by Ozren Kanceljak.
