Tonight, the project ‘European Youth Park (Park Mladih) – from neglect to world attraction’ will be presented.
The arduous task of cleaning the neglected Turkish Tower has gone on for decades. Just two years ago, the state of the tower caught the attention of many enthusiastic volunteers and citizens, and many had hoped that this would be the first step towards the final planning and organization of this great green island in the city center. But since then quite some time has passed, and nothing concrete has happened in order to achieve any progress, except for strife and protests against some of the proposed solutions and amendments to the zoning plan, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on April 22, 2017.
Among the first to warn of the underutilization of these resources was the HSLS Split, who helped to enrich the Youth Park by placing painted benches by the students of the School of Fine Arts. Last year, HSLS Split took on designing an ambitious conceptual plan for the area of the entire surface, and titled the project ”European Park of Youth”.
The public presentation of the project for the revitalization of the Youth Park / Turkish Tower, entitled ‘European Youth Park – from neglect to world attraction’, organized by HSLS, will be held today at the Atrium Hotel at 19:00.

At this public forum, HSLS Split will present their vision for this discouraged park, with a presentation of 3D simulations and the project’s building design according to their idea, which has taken 11 months to craft. The call was sent to all mayoral candidates, representatives of local authorities, and owners of land plots in the area, which are: private owners, the city of Split, Croatia, Brodosplit, the church…
Back in March 2015, HSLS Split began their story for the revival of the Turkish Tower by presenting its original project for the revitalization of the park, after they introduced eight painted park benches to the area.
“While everyone is talking about bridges, tunnels or underground garages, we call on the citizens of Split to listen to the ideas of those in Split who think in a realistic and feasible way,” concluded HSLS.
