International Women’s Day is celebrated traditionally on March 8th, and the restaurants in Split are finding a unique way to get on board.

Though James Brown might have sung that ‘it’s a man’s world’, his famous lyrics could be no further from the truth tomorrow, March 8th, as we celebrate the women in the world for International Women’s Day.

If you aren’t aware, International Women’s Day is celebrated traditionally on March 8th to honor the social, economic, political, and cultural achievements of women, while calling for gender equality across the globe. An event that has been observed for well over a century, the first women’s day event gathered over a million people in Germany, Austria, Denmark, and Switzerland, though its roots can also be traced back to New York in 1908 where 15,000 women marched for voting rights and equal pay.

Many of the issues women fought for back then are still prevalent in today’s society, and pay gaps between genders is anything but a thing of the past. Though women all over the world are coming together to fight the sexual misconduct that tears through industries internationally, various movements including ‘Time’s Up’ and ‘Me Too’ have gained traction in recent months, marking tomorrow’s observation as one of the most critical to date.

While women should be celebrated every day as equally powerful and influential to their male counterparts, tomorrow, women around the world will have the bragging rights – and we’re not complaining.

Split has found many ways to honor this eminent event, and apart from the traditional ‘Flower of Split’ manifestation, restaurants have decided to hop on board to show women all the love they deserve tomorrow and every day until the end of time.

Fabrique Pub has organized one of the unique events in the city tomorrow by throwing an after-work party for the ladies – and yes, this restaurant is putting the men to work in the kitchen.

Precisely, on Thursday, March 8, 2018, Fabrique will host an event where three male chefs will throw their aprons on to prepare a custom 3-course menu just for celebrated women in our lives.

“To our wonderful women, on your day, we decided to have the men cook a delicious 3-course menu just for you – and for the entertainment program, the men will be in charge. The charming Ivo Kralj will delight you with his voice, and DJ Bubi will get you to dance after dinner which, of course, will be served by our wonderful waiters,” said the Fabrique team.
