If you’re looking to lend a helping hand in Split this week, here are some ways you can.

We’ve been getting into the holiday spirit at Total Split this year, because what’s better than the gift of giving?

Overwhelmed by seeing all walks of life in the city of Split come together during this special season, we thought we would give everyone the chance to get involved this year to make the most out of the kind efforts happening around the city.

Here are some of the humanitarian actions happening in Split from December 12 to December 16, 2017.

Tuesday, December 12, 2017

Art Auction at Hotel Split at 19.00

HULU Split will hold their humanitarian action at Hotel Split to raise money for the KBC Split Children’s Hospital.

Funds will be raised to purchase a necessary pH-meter for the KBC Split Children’s Hospital – children currently need to go to Zagreb when they need a pH-meter. For the occasion, 32 artists have donated their work for auction. You can find more information here

‘Humanitarian Concert: Childhood Outside of the Hospital’ at the Split Medicine School at 19.00

The Medical School of the University of Split and the student’s section of Neuroscience ‘Neurosplit’ hope to contribute KBC Split to provide patients young and old with the most comfortable stay in the hospital.

Everyone is invited to a humanitarian concert titled “Childhoods Outside of the Hospital” which will be held in the amphitheater of the Medical School in Split (Šoltanska 2).

The aim is to raise funds for the general arrangement of the Children’s Diseases Clinic and the Department of Neurosurgery of KBC Split.

The concert will include students from the Split Gymnasium, students of the Academy of Arts in Split and the Faculty of Medicine in Split. Furthermore, students of the School of Fine Arts Split will prepare an art exhibition and the group Dalmatino complete this fantastic event.

The 17th annual ‘A di si ti?!’ fair organised by Udruga MOST will take place this Saturday! This year’s fair boasts 40 stands with over 50 organizations, clubs, associations, entrepreneurs, institutions, schools and groups participating to raise money for the homeless center, those who are currently homeless, and those who are at the risk of homelessness. The event also aims to raise public awareness of homelessness.

The fair is a great way to shop for last minute Christmas presents while supporting a good cause!

Expat Impact for ‘A di si ti?’

There are a lot of incredible things we can say about the Split expats group, and their unity this particular holiday season has further confirmed just how much the gift of giving brings hearts of all kinds together.

This Saturday at the ‘A di si ti?” fair, Split expats will man a stand for the very first time at the highly anticipated charity event, selling donated goods by the expats themselves. Expats will participate at the fair from 10.00 to 14.00.

If you’re interested in donating before the event, you can bring your items to the Break Time Nautical shop by Thursday at 12.30 pm. Donations are also being accepted in Split 3 at Atmosfera Coworking where Michael Freer is the coordinator. If you are interested in donating but cannot make it to either collecting points, you can drop off items on Saturday morning at the Split expats stand between 9.30-10.00.

Fotoklub Split hosts Advent Help-Portrait at 10:30

Organized by Fotoklub Split, Help-Portrait Split will see Split citizens participate in this global movement for the seventh consecutive year. The mission is to empower photographers to use their skills, tools and expertise to give back to their local community.

Members of the Split Help-Portrait team will traditionally visit the Children’s Home “Miljenko and Dobrila” (17.12.2017) and will organize a photography session for the children for the fifth time at Fotoklub Split (16.12.2017).

The Help-Portrait project was designed and launched by well-known American celebrity photographer Jeremy Cowart with the aim of giving the most vulnerable groups of society a chance to feel beautiful through skilled photographers. The idea grew into a framework of local actions and now takes place all over the world. On the day of the action, a photo studio is set up at specific locations, and volunteer teams make sure everyone is happy with the photos taken. Photos are immediately printed and given to those photographed.

“These portraits are not for a portfolio, website, or sale. It’s about giving people who could not afford photography, a chance to capture a moment, memory … and a whole lot more,” says the Help-Portrait website

The Split Help-Portrait team invites all of you to visit the Help-Portrait studio at Marmontova 5 (Fotoklub).
