The new Salona Palace hotel, located at the entrance of the Archaeological Park of Salona, will open its doors to the first guests from Easter!
Already ranked #1 in The Times “30 coolest hotels in Croatia”, the new four-star hotel covers an area of 42000 square meters over four floors. The investment, which was worth 45 million HRK, was financed from the program for the development of tourism by the Croatian bank for reconstruction and development, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on April 12, 2017.
The hotel has 44 rooms and three suites, therefore boasting 100 beds. There is a conference hall that can accommodate 330 people, making it ideal for conference tourism or a wonderful place for weddings. The building also has a spa, and both an outdoor and indoor swimming pool.
“As of now we have employed 22 people, including many from Solin,” said the director, who added that their future guests will be arriving mainly from Europe (mostly English) and from the United States.
“So far, we have had a lot of inquiries because of the hotel’s proximity to Salona, which we are especially happy about,” the director added.
The conceptual design of the hotel was crafted by prof. Neno Kezić from ”Arhipolisa”. The building is in the shape of a cross, designed to show the symbolism of Salona with its roots in Christianity.
The restaurant, which will be named “Porta Salonae” (door Salona) will have a menu in the spirit of ancient Roman cuisine. There will also be a cafe that tourists visiting Salona can enjoy.
The hotel is surrounded by the plants of the Mediterranean, including pines and olive trees. Natural materials were used for the windows and doors of the hotel, and in an effort to meet all environmental requirements, the hotel is certified “green” for energy efficiency. The roof of the hotel will also be partially green and have a “living roof”.
The official opening ceremony will take place in the next month.
