The Croatian premier of the Bulgarian-Greek film “Glory” opened the 10th Mediterranean Film Festival at the open-air cinema “Bačvice” last night, with the sellout crowd officially coining the festival the most visited cultural event of Dalmatia, reports Split.com.hr on June 9, 2017. Additionally, the first evening of FMFS screened the short film “Honey and Milk,” directed by Marko Jukić.
“As much as it may sound strange, honestly, for the tenth time, I am again thrilled at what a fantastic audience we have. It seems to me that this evening we have once again broken the record for attendance. The atmosphere for both films was excellent and although we did not have a lot of opening protocols, the evening turned out to be fantastic, and I’m proud that we launched another edition in such a way. I am delighted that after the opening, many people were discussing the short film over the feature film, which once again justifies our decision to focus FMFS on ‘Ješke’ and short films,” said the festival director Alen Munitić.
Tonight at Kino Bačvice, the Belgian-French co-production “Insyriated” will be screened, which won the Panorama Audience Award for best film at Berlinale. The Split audience will also have the opportunity to enjoy “Zvir” by Miroslav Sikavica which was recognized in Cannes.
The program at the Cinematheque “Golden Gate” tonight will open at 19:00 with ”Vacation” by Igor Šeregi, followed by the “Together Project” by French director Solveig Anspach. For those that arrive after 21:30, the free cinema “Tesla” in the heart of the city will be showing a program of short films from Spain, Italy, and Lebanon.
During the 10 days of the festival, which will last until June 17th, three locations will show 85 films from 26 countries.
