Apart from being known as the famous shopping street that houses Zara, Bershka, and Guess, there is a lot more to Marmontova you may not know.
For starters, the street itself is named after Marshal Marmont, a Marshal of France who was responsible for the urbanization of Dalmatian cities.
Split’s popular fish market is located on Marmontova street due to the smell of sulfur which is a good way to keep the flies away, and the first cinema in Split was also located on Marmontova. In addition to shopping, the street is known for housing art galleries and exhibition rooms.
