Have you seen the hotel construction going on at Bačvice?
While we can say that this summer was the summer of tourists, it’s also safe to say that this summer was the summer of construction.
From new bars and restaurants to new hotel buildings, the construction hasn’t stopped, and this new hotel in Bačvice is just one to add to the ever-growing list, reports Buro 247 on September 15, 2017.
The new hotel building on Bačvice, which is the small hotel project behind Zagreb studio Mikelać Vreš Architects (MVA), is yet to be named – but we’re certain you’ve watched its progress from the early spring until now.
Consisting of 24 accommodation units with accompanying amenities, the hotel is modern, bringing a new light to Bačvice amongst the rustic stone houses and red rooftops that have so classicly defined the area.
Inside the hotel, a central open staircase will visually connect all of the levels, while the common spaces on the ground floor will be organized around three service cores – directly connecting to the garden which will be full of Mediterranean plants.
The hotel has also been designed to show dualism.
“The hotel is designed as a compact volume with a dual presence – towards the street and the city it is a monolith block of glazed white stone, while towards the garden it is a light, semitransparent volume with white perforated metal skin. This semipermeable skin serves as sun protection and allows climbing plants to grow, taking the motive of the garden throughout all levels,” states MVA.
The interior of the hotel includes raw materials such as concrete, wood, and copper which will perfectly contrast with the greenery, furniture, and strategically placed mirrors in the space.
The hotel will offer rooms that look over Bačvice and those that look over the city of Split, each with their own given design elements.
Here is a closer look.
