It’s Thursday, June 8th and the summer season is well on its way.
On my walk into the city center today I had my first real hint of “the summer season is officially here.”
While we’ve been feeling the impact of tourists since April and have experienced record breaking numbers for the earliest start to the season yet, something hadn’t clicked until I saw this morning’s line of traffic around the Green Market, coupled with the subtle honking of eager taxis. This was the moment that finally screamed “summer.”
Fortunately, the 10 am rush of tour groups and coffee drinkers finally subsided around lunchtime, and the Riva and Old Town felt less intimidating to tackle in the warm sun.
The weather was sweet with a pure breeze – this Thursday in June at noon felt just right.
Here’s a glimpse at life in Split today.
