Split Parking: New Mobile Application is Here to Find You Parking!

It is no surprise that there is an increasing number of vehicles in the city of Split, which inevitably increases the pressure on available parking spaces. This has encouraged the city-based company “Split Parking” to strengthen their efforts in finding a solution to the burning parking problem. 

Luckily they have succeeded, and parking for the people of Split is now a whole lot easier with the introduction of the new Split Parking mobile application, reports Dalmatinski Portal on June 14, 2017. 

So, how does it work?

The Split Parking system has a sensor which detects whether a parking space is free or occupied, visually presenting the actual condition of each parking space on the mobile application. This gives users the ability to see the current situation of each parking space on the screen of their mobile device (for example, users will be able to see the number of free parking spaces, from commercial to disabled). A view of the parking lot will be visible in the form of a pin on a map, which will contain numerical information about vacancies.

The user can be navigated to the nearest free or selected parking place, both for street parking and for four car parks where the number of free parking spaces within the parking lot will be visible. For now, drivers will be able to see street parking spaces on parts of Ul. Domovinskog Rata, the outdoor parking lot on the waterfront (Riva), Ul Zrinsko-Frankopanska, Svačićeva, and Vukovarska.

Soon, there are plans to enter all parking lots in the Split Parking system, while the remaining street parking places would enter the system after the implementation of an international tender for the procurement of adequate sensory equipment.

The Split Parking application also allows citizens to report illegal parking by sending in a photo and the geolocation of the vehicle with comments. The Split Parking service then reports the issue to the city, after which, with the direct permission of the traffic police, an intervention may take place.

This system also makes it easier to pay for street parking due to geolocations and the application allows cards and PrePaid payments.

The Split Parking application contributes to reducing traffic, exhaust gases, and nervousness among drivers. This innovative sensor technology parking system and the mobile application together by Split Parking has established the city of Split as a world leader in solving the problem of parking with technology. With the Split Parking system, Split can become one of the smart cities of the future.
