As September draws to a close, come take a look at the streets of Split…

September is very nearly over; officially it is Autumn but for some reason, October 1st signals the end of summer to me. Maybe it has to do with my husband coming home from a long summer at sea or the fact that in the past, by the time October 1st rolled around, the streets of Split were always well and truly quiet with hardly a tourist in sight. Not so this year.

The ‘tourist season’ seems to extend every year; I remember five years ago when I first began tour guiding on boats, the second the calendar page turned over to September 1st, the streets and especially the islands were a ghost town. Shops and restaurants began to close and you could hear more Croatian spoken on the streets than any other language.

Split officially closed its summer program last night, while it is definitely winding down and the streets are less crowded, September still has plenty of energy and these photos and videos prove it. Come for a walk with us and see why you should consider visiting Split in September and even October.

Bačvice beach is proving that swimming season is not closed

If you plan on heading to Hvar, you better believe you aren’t the only one
