Split really is the biggest Croatian tourist story this year. According to official statistics, and reported by news portal 24 Sata, in the first nine months of this year there were 830,000 overnight stays. It was previously announced that tourists spend an average of 55 euros per day, so in total Split income in this period was 45.65 million euros. Or, in relative figures, not less than 20 percent more than last year. It is expected that Split will total almost one million bed nights by the end of the year. Next year this magic number of one million bed nights might be broken, predicts director of city tourist board Vedran Matošić.
Germans are still number one guests, but those from United Kingdom reached second position.
Beside Split, its county also is well up, there were seven percent more bed-nights than in the same nine months of 2012.
