Zagreb Mayor Milan Bandic and Pavel Pavliček, board member of Globalna hrana, company that owns the McDonald’s franchise in Croatia, opened the renovated playground for children with special needs ar part of the Za naš ljepši kvart project.
This is a national project that McDonald’s Croatia has carried out for the past four years in the 11 cities where there are McDonalds restaurants. McDonald’s, in cooperation with city governments, collects citizens’ proposals for project which communities need and then organizes a vote in McDonalds restaurants in those cities. The citizens of Zagreb have voted for the expansion and renovation of playgrounds for children with special needs at Jarun.
“Ten years ago we opened a park for children with developmental disabilities, worth 1.3 million kn, which now provides our youngest citizens with special devices and equipment in an idyllic setting near Jarun Lake. I would like to thank McDonald’s Croatia for their hundred thousand kuna donation because it provided funds necessary for adding specialized equipment for children with disabilities. This shows just how socially responsible McDonalds really is and how much the company invests in the local community in which it operates.” Mayor Bandić added.
