Zagreb in History: Summer of 1970

Total Croatia News

Since it’s going to be a hot day, with temperatures over 30ºC, we’ve decided to dig up a summer photo of Zagreb from Zagreb – kakav je bio nekada Facebook group.

“Summer of ’69” was impossible to find, so we found the next best thing – summer of ’70, but, sadly, now the Bryan Adams reference is out of place.

You can see colorufl crowds of people stroling around on the corner of Draškovićeva and Jurišićeva Streets, taken from Trg žrtava fašizma (called Trg Jože Vlahovića at the time). There’s a patrolman directing the traffic – cars were allowed in Jurišićeva and even Ban Jelačić Square at the time.

If you look closely, it looks like someone is holding onto the tram from the outside, maybe because they caught it at the last moment, or maybe as a clever way of avoiding buying a ticket.
