The second edition of BeerYard Festival connecting three independent scenes – craft beer, street food and music, starts soon.
This one-day festival will take place on September 2, 2017, in Klub Močvara’s big yard, the same location where this #DoživiHmelj (experience the hops) story started last year. Encouraged by all the positive comments from last year’s edition, both from visitors and brewers, the story continues this year, with foreign brewers and more local ones, as well as street food and great independent bands.
Croatia is the honeymoon phase of its relationship with craft beer – the number of craft beer lovers keeps growing, and, with them, local craft beer offer keeps getting bigger. The situation is similar in the region, which is a plus for everyone involved in this story.
The most important change in this year’s edition will be foreign brewers – there will be five from Spain (Balate, Gar Gar, Laugar, Marina) and one from Estonia (Sori brewing company), and 21 from Croatia (5th element, Bad Brewery, Beckers brewery, Bošnjak, Brlog, Bura brew, Crafters, Dubrovačka pivovara, Garden brewery, Križevačka, LAB, Medvedgrad, Mlinarica, Nova runda, Pivionica).
In addition to brewers, who will be visiting the festival in person, craft pubs will also present their new beers, most of which have not yet been presented in Croatia – Craft Room, Hop IN Craft Beer Bar and ALL IN.
Visitors will also be able to participate in an educational panel:
- 2 p.m.: Spanish beer scene, where all the guests from Spain will present their products, and the panel will be moderated by Marko Ožegović of Pivarium beer portal.
- 4 p.m.: Crowdfunding Breweries, with Pyry Hurula, co-owner of Sori brewing, who will talk about how his brewery managed to get €500,000 thanks to a crowdfunding campaign. The panel will be moderated by Domagoj Jakopović – Ribafish.
- 6 p.m.: craft brewers will be presenting their drafts for establishing an association of small independent brewers.
American bar dollar (Varaždin), Rocket burger (Zagreb) and Bistro Franz (Bjelovar) will be in charge of the food, and concerts start at 7 p.m., so you’ll be able to listen to Dno, ThroaTTwisteR, Pičke vrište, and Cojones.
We love the fact that the festival is going green – you get a reusable plastic cup when you go in, but, in order to avoid mixing beers, there will be three washers in the yard so that you can wash your cup and enjoy new beer.
Another great thing is that the festival will be promoting other crafts as well, so you’ll be able to buy beer-themed T-shirts made by Giftonaut.com.
