Free tennis lessons will be organised in Dugave, Trešnjevka and Trnje neighbourhoods, September 16 – October 1.
Now that the new school year’s here, your children might be thinking about taking up a new hobby, and free tennis lessons are a great way to discover if your child could become the next Roger Federer or Serena Williams.
September 16 – October 1, 2017, children aged 6-10 will be able to attend free lessons at Tenis centra Dugave (Kauzlarićev prilaz bb), Tenis centra Trešnjevka (Veprinečka 16, next to Kutija Šibica) and ŠRC Trnje (Ulica grada Vukovara 236e), Jutarnji list reports on September 12, 2017.
The aim of the project is introducing tennis as a healthy physical activity and a great hobby, as well as preventing addiction and unacceptable social behaviour.
Coaches Markica Mustapić, Luka Mofčan and Vjekoslav Kadoić have been working with children for years.
“We want to bring tennis closer to children and their parents and make them see that tennis is the right choice for young children to develop a healthy habit and make it more accessible to them.”
“Tennis is not more expensive than other sports, even though it is sometimes perceived that way. It is important to show people that tennis does not necessarily mean that you have to invest a lot in it. More than 1,300 students have participated in our free schools in the past seven years, and we hope that a lot of children will apply this year as well. The number of children who are interested keeps growing, so we are prepared to organise bigger groups.”
The coaches would also like to see tennis become more popular especially because Croatian tennis players have traditionally been very successful at it.
There will be a total of eight lessons in groups of up to six children, and children will be given all the equipment they need.
The schedule will be adapted to children and their parents and a special tournament with prizes for all participants will be organised when the lessons are finished.
