Irish Film Festival at Tuškanac Starts Today

Irish Film Festival (Ciklus irskog filma), organised by Embassy of Ireland Croatia and Croatian Film Associationat, will take place at Tuškanac, May 15 – 20, 2017. A new film will be screened each night at 19:00.

Six films will be shown:

  • May 16: The Secret of Kells (2009)
    Beautifully drawn and refreshingly calm, The Secret of Kells hearkens back to animation’s golden age with an enchanting tale inspired by Irish mythology.
  • May 17: Sing Street (2016)
    SING STREET takes us back to 1980s Dublin seen through the eyes of a 14-year-old boy named Conor (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo) who is looking for a break from a home strained by his parents’ relationship and money troubles, while trying to adjust to his new inner-city public school where the kids are rough and the teachers are rougher.

  • May 18: Once (2007)
    Once is a 2007 Irish musical romance film written and directed by John Carney. The film stars Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová as two struggling musicians in Dublin, Ireland

  • May 19: The Yellow Bittern (2009)
    THE YELLOW BITTERN, a feature documentary from Alan Gilsenan, is a revealing and surprising portrait of the man Bob Dylan called the best ballad singer Id ever heard in my whole life.
  • May 20: Song of the Sea (2014)
    The enchanting Irish animation SONG OF THE SEA tells the story of Ben and his little sister Saoirse – the last Seal-child – who embark on a fantastic journey across a fading world of ancient legend and magic in an attempt to return to their home by the sea. The film takes inspiration from the mythological Selkies of Irish folklore, who live as seals in the sea but become humans on land.
