An event which turns the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Martićeva Street into a creative hub, and which attracted more than 30,000 visitors last year, Design District Zagreb, starts in two days, and we’ve rounded up just a few of the numerous great events you might be interested, June 13 – 18.
This year’s edition goes green – visitors will be able to watch movies Meet the Earthship, Guerrilla Architect, Greening the City and The Pedreiro and the Master Planner, screened at Park 100. brigade, in the open, on June 14 and June 16. Two other films, documenting Zagreb in the ‘60s and the ‘70s, will also be screened at the park on June 15.
Oris House of Architecture is organising guided walks of the architectural heritage within Design District’s area, designed to familiarise the visitors with the perception of city block construction since the beginning of the 20th century up until now. Tours in Croatian will be available on June 15, 16, 17, and 18, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., while a tour in English will be available on June 18, 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.
A movie workshop will also be organised on June 15 – 1440 film workshop. A limited number of attendees will have the chance to come up with an idea for a short film, record it, edit it, and screen it within 24 hours.
On June 16, you’ll be able to learn how to make healthy vegan ice-cream at home, and, if you love eating more than cooking, stop by Cantina restaurant at Iblerov trg 10, June 13 – 17, for “Aperitivo time” – a combination of various one-bite food and ‘starters’, like bruschettas and pizzetas, accompanied with a selection of excellent Italian frizzante wines at promotional prices for the duration of the festival.
On June 16, you can watch the sunset while sipping a Somersby on top of the Wooden Skyscraper.
