One of my favourite stories about the global reach of Total Hvar is of the lovely Mexican couple who decided to move to Jelsa from Mexico City (yes, really) after following our blog for a few months. More than 18 months of Jelsa happiness later, they decided to try their luck in Korcula, where they are also extremely happy. People are crazy.
And while that story is probably going to be hard to beat, it was nice to get a message from the edge of the Amazon in Peru at 4am in the morning recently, from a British writer/drinker who was a colleague of mine on my first writing site, the sadly now defunct Suite101.com.
Apart from running what I have heard is a rather good bar called Huascar Bar in a place called Tarapoto on the edge of the Amazon, Tony also runs an excellent website about Peru if you are heading that way. I don’t remember now how, but he managed to convince me to write for free for his site a few years ago. Having lost contact with Tony, I was surprised to be awoken by his message in the early hours, and it transpired that the reason for his contact was that he had met a Croatian girl who told him she had a connection with the island of Hvar.
“Then you must know Paul from Total Hvar,” replied Tony (or something like that – I wasn’t there).
“Not only do I know him, I blog for Total Hvar,” replied our Spiritual Hvar blogger Paula Vrankovic, who is spending time in Peru helping out in a local school.
A reminder that the world is small, and that the message of Hvar is spreading in all sorts of ways.
