In the middle of summer, in those hot sunny days, and even hotter summer nights, at the gorgeous blooming cactuses and with those passionate desired meetings – Marija Kondres comes to Palmižana with her vivid paintings of an amazing amount of colors, unbridled moves and wild momentum..
“Marija Kondres approaches painting by engaging herself with the motif, analyzing it and searching for its artistic interpretation. She ‘builds’ a painting by a coherently constructing it as a whole, and at the same time carefully thinking about each element. She expresses herself in free gestures, with strong brushstrokes, thus achieving vibrant mood of her paintings.
Her color sensitivity is very high, she leans on her intuition when focusing on motifs, and her lyric approach produces paintings of remarkable freshness. In her vision there is an overlap between the seen and the imagined, and those multilayered interpretations are familiar to the viewer. She has a strong sense of solid composition, and has at her disposal a palette of expressive means to materialize natural objects and intimate, poetic experience of them into a coherent painting as a whole. These are some of the qualities which provide Marija Kondres’ paintings with a special charm and expressiveness of a personal artistic ‘hand writing’. Before the motif one needs to learn to forget the ‘learned’ and immerse oneself into perception.
