July the 13th, 2026 – Croatian private landlords providing accommodation to tourists have been warned about the need to adhere to the 2026 permit deadline under recently introduced rules.

There are a great number of private landlords who rent out their properties to visitors during summer across Split-Dalmatia County. They have been reminded to submit their applications for permanent operating permits before the end of 2026. Poslovni reports that if they fail to do so, they seriously risk losing the legal right to continue running their business.

County authorities said temporary permits remain valid only until the 31st of December 2026, following changes to Croatia’s hospitality legislation. New temporary permits have not been available since the beginning of 2025, meaning existing permit holders must complete the transition to permanent authorisation if they wish to continue operating.

Officials are encouraging landlords and other hospitality operators not to leave the process until the final months of the year, warning that late applications could lead to administrative delays.

Applications for permanent permits can be submitted electronically through the eTurizam (eTourism) system, by email or in person at Split-Dalmatia County administrative offices. The necessary application forms and guidance are available through the county administration.

The county also reminded operators that continuing to provide accommodation or hospitality services without the required permit after the transitional deadline could result in enforcement measures and severe penalties under Croatian law.
