International Folklore Festival ‘Guardian of Cultural Heritage and Traditions’ – July, Dugopolje

The Beauty in Stone (Ljepota u kamenu) International Folklore Festival has been held in Dugopolje since 2004 through the organised efforts of the Pleter Cultural Club from Dugopolje. Apart from performances by the Pleter Cultural Club and other Croatian cultural clubs as well as those from neighbouring Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Beauty in Stone festival also presents performances by cultural clubs from across Europe (Serbia, Macedonia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, and more). This festival event is held every year in July at the Homeland Thanksgiving Square (Trg domovinske zahvalnosti). The long-term goal is for the festival to become one of the major cultural events in the Dalmatian hinterland, and for Dugopolje to become recognised as a cultural and tourist destination.
