November 8, 2018 – “After beating several records and creating two electric Hypercars, he is helping the automotive sector to accelerate its transition to sustainability.” Croatia’s automotive hero Mate Rimac has been recognized yet again for his incredible achievements as an innovator under the age of 35.
The MIT Technology Review ‘Innovators Under 35’ is a prestigious list that recognizes the impressive innovators younger than 35 each year, from the areas of biotechnology, materials, computer hardware, energy, transportation, communications, and the Internet.
“We are searching for individuals whose superb technical work promises to shape the coming decades. Our goal is to recognize the development of new technology or the creative application of existing technologies to solve the world’s biggest problems. We reward ingenious and elegant work that matters to the world at large—not just to peers in a particular field or industry,” reads the Innovators Under 35 website.
It’s no surprise then, that Croatia’s inventor, innovator, entrepreneur, and founder of Rimac Automobili was named on the remarkable list.
“‘Hello, I’m an electric car, I can’t go very fast or very far’,” begins Rimac’s story on the official website.
“This is how, more than a decade ago, the popular series The Simpsons described with humor the vision that the world had about this type of vehicle: slow and not very powerful machines. But having in mind that the internal combustion engine is one of the biggest sources of pollution in the world, there were always idealists convinced that, one day, electric cars could compete with any traditional vehicle. One of them was Mate Rimac, who instead of sitting and waiting for someone else to fulfill his dream, decided that he himself could revolutionize the car industry. And so he did, an achievement that has made him one of the winners of Innovators Under 35 Europe 2018 by MIT Technology Review.” You can read the Mate Rimac story in its entirety here.
Mate Rimac currently employees more than 400 people at Rimac Automobili which is located in Sveta Nedelja just outside of Zagreb. Chief Innovation Officer and Partner at Convidencia Michel Duchateau, a member of the Innovators Under 35 Europe 2018 jury, expressed that the Rimac project is “already generating an impact in the world”.
On December 4, 2018, the winners will be awarded at the Innovators Under 35 Summit in Paris, France.
Bravo, to Mate Rimac and Rimac Automobili for yet another incredible achievement!
