A Design Store and a Food Store Join Forces to Promote Croatian, Indigenous, and Original Products

Daniela Rogulj

In order to promote small, local manufacturers and introduce visitors to traditional Croatian products, Mali Plac and Croatian Design Superstore have joined forces for a new project that focuses on the presentation of local, indigenous, and Croatian gastronomic products.

Although primarily dedicated to Croatian design, Croatian Design Superstore has become enriched with a unique gastronomic story, focusing on the simple task of  “food from the source”.  Food from the source, or rather indigenous and naturally grown Croatian products, can be found at Mali Plac, a known small mobile market of local and organic products.

Mali Plac and the Croatian Design Superstore stem from, although with a slightly different focus, basic common efforts for promoting Croatian, indigenous and original products. Therein lies the new joint cooperation of Mali Plac and the Croatian Design Superstore.

“We try to make visits to the Superstore feel really complete with an interesting design experience in every way, constantly using the cafe as a testing ground for new design concepts and ideas – that is why a cooperation with Mali Plac seems like a natural step forward,” says Ira Payer, creative director of the platform.

Mali Plac will display at the Croatian Design Superstore on two Saturdays, September 17th and October 1st. This acquisition of healthy seasonal ingredients and tasting of gastronomic delights and domestic OPG’s will take place on both days between 10h and 16h. Visitors will have the opportunity to become acquainted with small producers from different regions throughout Croatia, and find out everything they want to know about their products.

Mali Plac will be offering delicacies that can not be found in conventional retail outlets, but that you will be able to purchase at the Croatian Design Superstore. Among them are the products of Slow Food International – featuring garlic from Ljubitovica, traditional cheese cones, homemade dried figs, dried eco-tomatoes, bread without yeast, eco-raspberry and raw vegan cake.

Mali Plac has for 4 years continuously created a platform with interesting and innovative ways to promote the value of local and traditional food cultivation, with direct and personal representation of small producers. Since its inception, Mali Plac has became known as a place for meeting, socializing, tasting, and sharing of healthy food, ideas and creativity.
