“Kult Plava Kamenica” (or “Blue Oyster Cult”) is a digital medium that focuses on the phenomenon of food, wine and travel through reviews, surveys, interviews, and stories. They are a heterogeneous group of journalists, photographers, sommeliers, enologists, chefs and culinary experts who are connected by a passion for food and wine, with many years of professional experience and a desire to return to the media competent, accurate, and timely information for everything that happens in the Croatian and international cuisine. This is their first action in hosting the Croatian “Restaurant of the Year”.
On 8 November, Blue Oyster Cult published a list of suggestions for the best selection for restaurant of the year. In compiling this list, the BOC team was guided by the criteria of the restaurant as a complete product, which includes – in addition to the food and wine list – service, ambience and overall experience. The list also includes restaurants that work all or most of the year, which means that some top runners had to be eliminated from the list such as Monte, Alfred Keller, or Laganini.
Another important aspect of how the best restaurant in Croatia for 2016 is chosen is that Croatian chefs and restaurateurs will choose the winning restaurant. BOC believes that in the Croatian-restaurant industry, with all the real difficulties encountered, it should be the strong, ambitious and mature ones that choose the best restaurant in the country. In addition, it is noticeable that the chefs and owners of serious restaurants now regularly eat at competing restaurants, which is a desirable change in relation to earlier times.
Here are the 10 finalists:
– Batelina, Banjole
– Bevanda, Opatija
– Carpaccio, Zagreb
– Dubravkin Put, Zagreb
– Noel, Zagreb
– Paradigma, Split
