One thing the city of Split does not lack are fast food establishments, and this summer one of the most internationally popular fast food chains will be settling into this Dalmatian location…

McDonald’s, which currently stands across four locations in Split, will soon get competition. This summer, the opening of the first “Kentucky Fried Chicken” (KFC) restaurant – the famous American fast food chain that is world famous for fried chicken – will be coming to Split. Goran Golubic , KFC’s Chief Manager for Croatia from the company “AmRest Adria”, has confirmed the opening, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on January 8, 2017.

The company is already preparing for its commercial breakthrough, and after six restaurants throughout Zagreb, KFC has decided to open its doors in the center of Dalmatia, launching, amongst other things, competition for the position of assistant-manager in the city.

“We plan to open the first KFC restaurant in Split this year. Our plan is to be realized by the summer,” said Golubic, who is currently on the hunt for a suitable first location – and is even looking for a few more for the future. The company has said that they will reveal the location of the facility to the public just before opening.

“We currently have open positions, and applications are open until the end of next week, which is open to all interested citizens. We are employing people in leadership positions for the restaurant, but in a few months we intend to publish a tender for other jobs. During this year we will employ approximately 30 people, while our long-term goal is to employ about 150 staff in Split,” concluded Golubic.

The KFC chain dates as far back as 1930, when Harland Sanders opened the first of such restaurants in Louisville, Kentucky. Since then, the chain has only expanded, and so far has nearly 16,000 restaurants around the world that are deployed in more than 100 countries. Every day the fast food chain is visited by several million consumers, which by the end of 2013 resulted in a revenue of $23 billion. The first KFC in Croatia was opened in Zagreb five years ago.
