Remember the first ever Zagreb Burger Festival that took place just last month? We can’t help but wonder, out of all the burgers, which one was best?
After 11 days, 150,000 visitors, and the consumption of over 40,000 burgers, the very first Zagreb Burger Festival was a success. During the festival, burger enthusiasts were invited to fill out a questionnaire and ballot, to vote in the category that chooses the “Best Burger by the People” – allowing burger lovers to choose what they truly believe is the best burger in Zagreb, reports Journal.
After a tally of the votes, popular Zagreb burger chain Submarine BBQ took the cake (or the burger?) as the best in town, winning with their special Zagreb Burger Festival creation called “Burger za klaunove doktore” (Burger for the Clown Doctor).
This winning Submarine BBQ burger was made with 100% pure, locally grown beef, pickles, lettuce, melted cheese, tomatoes, caramelized onions, arugula, Genovese pesto aioli and the very special Submarine sauce. The burger even had a humanitarian note, with 10 kuna from each sale donated to the Association Crveni Nosovi-klaunovidoktori.

The award presentation was met by Diana Zekić from Zagreb Brewery, the general sponsor of the festival, founder of Submarine BBQ burger Aleksandar Lazinica, director Dragoljub Božović and leader Sandra Lojić.
All of the organizers and sponsors were very satisfied with the turnout of visitors this year, and believe that this is the type of festival will continue to exist, raising the competitiveness of the food and beverage industry each time. The Zagreb Burger Festival also enhances the tourist offer in Croatia.
