It’s summer, it’s hot, and you’re most likely thirsty. Luckily Zagreb has plenty summer sanctuaries and safe havens for you to cool off, imbibe, and enjoy. Here are a list of 10, as recommended by Dobra Hrana.
Bistro 75, Preradovićeva 34
Perhaps the strongest cocktail list in Zagreb, you can find classic cocktail recipes that are given a slightly different character. They make all their own syrups, fruit juices are freshly squeezed, and their list boasts the likes of Maple Margaritas, Colored Martinis, Vanilla-Ginger Daiquiris, Antique Negronis, and plenty more at a price ranging between 40 and 45kn.
Sherry´s, Ilica 73
Located in the charming inner courtyard of the British Square, Sherry’s is lucky to have a terrace under the trees and sparkling lights that will surely put a smile on your face. As for cocktails try their Botanist, a perfect mix of elderberry, G.T Tanqueray No.10 and dehydrated raspberries, or their Margarita, Mojito and Old Fashioned. Prices range between 35 and 60kn.
Takenoko, Masarykova 22
In the recently opened Takenoko you can definitely get a good cocktail. Their menu is somewhat different, incorporating new tastes like Matcha gin made from Bombay gin, matcha syrup, and plum wine. Takenoko uses the likes of gin, sake and even watermelon liquor to make over a dozen more interesting combinations. Prices are between 40 and 45kn.
Bistrot, Trg maršala Tita 1
Bistrot looks up at the former Hemingway across from the Zagreb National Theatre. Recognizable for their brunch and French fare, you can also get refreshing and classic cocktails here for around 35kn.
Dežman Bar, Dežmanova 3
On hot summer evenings it’s nice to head to Dežmanov passage (just above the Frankopanska) for their homemade cocktails with homemade recipes. Without revealing too much it is known to not disappoint. And the environment isn’t so bad either.
A most unusual garden, Horvaćanska 3
Already perfect for summer after the installation of their new treehouse, this spot is the place for enjoying a plethora of summer cocktails. For only 25 to 35 kn, you can get classic variants such a Cuba libre, Long Island, Bloody Mary and many others.
Mio Corazon, Ulica pavla Radića 16
Mio Corazon is recognizable by its Spanish flair and well dressed owner in Spanish costume. As for cocktails, Mio Corazon has a 35kn Mojito, and eight types of Sangria all at a price of 25kn. A blue mojito with strawberries, kiwi and orange is another fan favorite, and all drinks are usually served in retro drinking jars.
Otto & Frank, Tkalčićeva 20
Otto & Frank has a homemade strawberry sorbet dipped in a glass of prosecco at a price of 38kn, as well as a ginger mule with cherry blossoms for 43kn – need we say more?
Pod Zidom
This wine bar offers cocktails based on champagne and classics like Mojitos, Cosmopolitans and Caipiroska. They also boast a good selection of wines at very reasonable prices.
La Bodega, Bogovićeva 5
La Bodega offers several types of mojitos such as ginger, strawberry and a royal mojito, as well as a perfectly lively atmosphere.
