“I don’t know which notebook to choose”

Croatian Tragedies is one of the most popular meme series in Croatia, with over 100,000 likes on Facebook. They normally satirise commonplace sayings, complaints and events that you recognise if you’ve spent more than a month in a Croatian household, such as parents complaining that their kids won’t get straight As, grandmas getting offended when their grandchildren won’t eat lunch, people complaining how they don’t have anyone to drink coffee with because everyone’s moved to Ireland, or the most notorious serial killer in Croatia, draught.

In cooperation with ALFA izdavačka kuća (ALFA Publishing House), the site has come up with a series of notebooks with funny signs to get ready for the new school year.

“She wouldn’t let me cheat off her”
“You can’t set the e-Gradebook on fire”
“The teacher doesn’t like me”
“It’s second period, and my phone’s battery is at 25 %”
“My mum asked what grades other kids got”
“I was one point short of getting a D”
“The teacher wouldn’t give me an A”

– these are just some of the hilarious notebooks you can buy at Interspar starting July 24.

We know that publishing houses have had a tough year in Croatia, so this seems like a great initiative to get back on track.
