Did you know that The World Festival of Animated Film – Animafest Zagreb is beginning next week? The upcoming edition takes place from June 6th to 11th, held throughout various locations around Zagreb, bringing to light the best of international animation from over 300 films with powerful titles, great names, Oscar winners, world premieres, to young talents and students.
Since its establishment in 1972, Animafest Zagreb is the second oldest film festival in the world completely dedicated to animation. A festival by the filmmakers, for the filmmakers, Animafest Zagreb captures creative animation in all its forms, from traditional drawings, stop motion, CGI, and most experimental cross-media explorations. Filmmakers and film enthusiasts from all over the world come together in Zagreb during this week to be surrounded by likeminded friends and colleagues, all under the appreciation of animation.
As a leader of international animation events and the only Croatian film festival with this status, Animafest Zagreb premieres more than 80% of its film selection to the festival, bridging the gap between the local audience and the animation scene itself. Because of this, the level of audiovisual culture in this society is continually rising, making Zagreb a perfect pinpoint for Animafest.
This festival presents the best and latest works competing for illustrious awards as well as the most relevant and interesting trends.
