The Association says that the billboards promote lewdness.
After the First Lady of the USA was featured on a controversial billboard in Zagreb, another marketing campaign has caused controversy in the capital.
Vigilare Association has asked for Croatian National Theatre’s subscription billboard to be removed, Telegram reports on September 19, 2017.
“Prompted by reports from concerned citizens, we would like to express our protest against the distasteful marketing campaign for Croatian National Theatre’s subscription registration for season 2017/2018.
We feel that using insinuations to indecent acts to promote a national theatre company is highly inappropriate and that such a respectable institution, financed using taxpayers’ money, should not attract subscriptions using vulgarism and cheap sensationalism.
This campaign is below all standards that a national cultural institution is expected to adhere to and many taxpayers find it offensive so we ask it be stopped and removed from public spaces,” the official statement says.
“We will put an end to the Frljićalization of Croatia,” Vigilare’s president Vice Batarelo added.
