Three Croatian films, including the animated film “Cyclists” by Veljko Popović, “Pužić Slikar” by Manuela Vladić-Maštruko and “Ispod kojeg li su samo kamena ispuzali” by Daniel Šuljić will be screened at the International Short Film Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, beginning February 9th, reports T.portal on January 15, 2019.

Veljko Popović’s “Cyclists” is an animated story with a Mediterranean theme, which has been successfully shown at many film festivals around the world. “Cyclists” will compete in the international category of the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, the world’s largest festival dedicated to short films, and the second largest in France after Cannes.

The educational animation “Pužić Slikar” by screenwriter and director Manuela Vladić-Maštruko will compete in the youth competition, in the ECO 1 program for children older than three years.

“Pužić Slikar” is a unique story where children become acquainted with colors and their mixing possibilities. The animation was done by Darko Vidačković, Iva Božić, and Lucija Bužančić. Zagreb Film produced the short film.

“Ispod kojeg li su samo kamena ispuzali” by Daniel Šuljić is one of six films competing through an online competition on the official festival website, where the winner will receive 500 euro.

Suljić’s film brings forth a story about evil beings and creatures who feel the moment has come to stop hiding and break into the world.

In addition to writing the script and directing the film, Daniel Šuljić also worked on the animation with Dea Jagić, Ira Bulić, and Valent Balun, with whom he authored the composition and editing. The film was produced by the Kreativni sindikat and co-produced by Zagreb Film, with the support of the Croatian Audiovisual Center and the City of Zagreb.

The International Festival of Short Films in Clermont-Ferrand will hold its 41st edition this year. It consists of three competition programs (International, National, and Lab), and each year offers a rich accompanying program Marché du film court, which is the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival and one of the largest film markets in the world.
