Ivanić Grad will host its annual Pumpkin Festival, or as locals call it – Bučijada, next weekend, from 13th to 15th October 2017.
The Tourist Board of Ivanić Grad invites you to come, taste, feel and see one of the most visited food festivals in the region, which will be held for the thirteenth time. The main attraction of the festival is the pumpkin fair featuring over 200 exhibitors, where all sorts of products made of pumpkins will be sold, such as pumpkin seed oil, as well as other eco/ethno products. Bučijada festival will also feature the 7th Exhibition of Pumpkin Seed Oil made in north-western part of Croatia, which will rate and award the best pumpkin seed oils.
During the event, the city park will become a place of inspiration for artists and creators who will show their installations and sculptures made of pumpkins. Cooking shows and cooking workshops will be held on ‘gastro stage’, where excellent chefs will be preparing dishes made of pumpkins. Chefs that will be showing off their cooking skills include Nastasja Chiara Petrić from Chiarin Tanjurić, Dino Pavanić from Mano 2 restaurant and Marina Gasi from Marina restaurant.
ŠkrCo Škrlet Corner
Bučijada will also feature Škrlet corner “ŠkrCo”, where the indigenous Škrlet wines will be presented. The Škrlet Corner will officially open at 7 pm on Vladimir Nazor Square with the performance of Oridano gypsy jazz band, wine tastings and presentation of Šrklet wines made by the following wineries (members of Škrlet Association): Miklaužić, Trdenić, Ilovčak, Jaram, Florijanović, Kashner, Mikša, Voštinić Klasnić and Kezele. ŠkrCo Šrklet Corner is a special programme of Bučijada pumpkin festival which aims to promote the indigenous Škrlet white wine varieties from Moslavina through wine tastings, presentations of wines and wineries and socializing with winemakers. Visitors will be able to buy commemorative wine glasses, T-shirts and umbrellas. ŠkrCo corner can be visited from Friday to Sunday on the main city square by the Cooking Show Stage.
Bučijada Programme Highlights
The opening of the Park of pumpkin sculptures and installations is planned for Friday, October 13 at 6 pm in the city park in the centre of the town. After that, as we’ve already mentioned, the Škrlet Corner “ŠkrCo” will be officially opened at 7 pm on Vladimir Nazor square with the performance of Oridano gypsy jazz band.
The 13th Bučijada opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, October 14, at 11 am along with a tour of the pumpkin fair and exhibitors. At 12 pm, a conference on the production of pumpkin seed oil will be held, along with the award ceremony, where the best producers of pumpkin seed oil in Northwest Croatia will be awarded prizes.The cooking show will be held on the gastro stage on both days of the manifestation at 12 pm and 1 pm. At 9 pm a popular Croatian pop-rock band Opća Opasnost will take the stage.
On Sunday, October 15, at 11 am, the godfather of 13th Bučijada, Croatia’s best skier Ivica Kostelić, whose origins are from Ivanić Grad, will receive an honorary lent on the main stage, and will mingle with the visitors afterwards.
