Dubrovnik and Kaštel Gomilica are among the finalists for the most beautiful European film locations of the decade.
The European Film Commission Network (EUFCN) has included two Croatian locations, Dubrovnik and Kaštel Gomilica (Kaštilac), among the 11 finalists competing for the title of the most beautiful European film locations of the decade, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on September 14, 2017.
Voting is open to the public and will last until October 25, 2017, the Croatian Audiovisual Center (HAVC) reported.
The selected cities, fortresses, islands, historical and archaeological sites, spectacular mountain views and landscapes where popular films and series have been filmed over the last ten years are among the 11 best European locations fighting for the title of the Best Film Location of the Decade.

In addition to Dubrovnik and Kaštel Gomilica (Kaštilac), which were listed thanks to the series “Game of Thrones”, the Greek island of Antiparos (for the film “Suntan”), the Polish city of Wroclaw (for the film “Bridge of Spies”), Görlitz in Germany (for the film ”The Grand Budapest Hotel”), the Spanish La Isla Minima (for the film “Marshland”), the Basilica of San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (for the series “Game of Thrones”), the Roman Baths of Caracalla (for the film “The Great Beauty”), the Val Senales glacier in the Italian South Tyrol (for the film “Everest”), the Norwegian valley Valldal (for the film “Ex Machina”) and the city of Vienna (for the film “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation“) are also in the running.
The nomination process took place in two phases. First, the members of the EUFCN chose and proposed their locations (sites used for films or TV series), after which a group of experts including the movie critics of Cineuropa selected the finalists.
All citizens of Europe have the opportunity to choose the winners by voting until October 25, 2017, on the Cineuropa website. Voters also have the chance to win a three-day stay for two people at the winning location.
The winner will be announced at a ceremony held at the European Parliament in Brussels on November 7, 2017.
