The Dubrovnik & Konavle Walking Festival will take place from October the 2nd to the 7th, 2017.
As DuList reports on the 19th of September, 2017, this festival, which showcases some of Dubrovnik’s most picturesque paths and hidden walkways was first organised in 2016 with the aim of promoting the often overlooked side of Dubrovnik.
Most tourists arrive in the Pearl of the Adriatic in the height of the summer season and therefore walking around ruggy, exposed walkways in the boiling summer sun is, understandably, not very high on the agenda for most people. The walking festival which showcases the picturesque villages, hiking trails, the old railroad, vineyards, wineries and rural areas that surround the City of Dubrovnik and the wider area are part of a unique program designed for everyone to enjoy Dubrovnik outside of the ”norm” the city offers as a summer destination – from novices to experienced walkers.
The paths are varied; from nearby islands such as Lopud and Koločep, across Srdj and Bosanka with a beautiful view of Dubrovnik, Rijeka Dubrovačka, Mljet, Lastovo, Korčula, Pelješac, Župa Dubrovačka, Konavle, the list goes on.
The Dubrovnik & Konavle Walking Festival aims to show visitors that Dubrovnik and its surroundings are far more than just a popular summer destination, and that there should be much more focus and attention placed on sustainable tourism.
