A big surprise for McDonald’s fans begins on 2 August.

Big Mac is celebrating its 50th birthday, and McDonald’s has decided to mark the occasion by introducing MacCoins, “a new global currency.” MacCoins will be issued in limited quantity, are inspired by the Big Mac, and fans around the world will be able to get their own MacCoins on 2 August, reports Poslovni.hr on July 31, 2018.

Coins will be collected and changed for free Big Mac at McDonald’s restaurants in 50 countries which participate in the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Big Mac. Big Mac fans from all over the world will be able to win MacCoins through competitions in the participating countries, which will mark the introduction of MacCoins in their own unique ways.

Fans of Big Mac in Croatia will be able to get their MacCoins on 2 August by buying a Big Mac. The distribution of MacCoins will also be organized through social networks and influencers, and customers will have the opportunity to get the all the coins by participating in a competition via McDonald’s mobile application.

“Just as in the rest of the world, Big Mac deserves the status it has in Croatia, where it is one of our most sought-after products. So far, more than 28 million Big Mac burgers have been sold, so we are particularly pleased to have the opportunity to give away our burgers to the customers and in that way celebrate the first 50 years of Big Mac,” said Pavel Pavliček, the managing director of McDonald’s Croatia.
