HEP, the comapny who strives to provide secure and quality energy supply to customers, has announced a competition for the visual design of their Žitnjak heating tank.
Vecernji reports that a tank that is currently only recognizable for being a HEP heating tank in Žitnjak will soon get a makeover. In fact, the HEP heating tank will be getting a graffiti painting that is 53 meters high and 31 meters long, making it the largest graffiti painting Zagreb will have seen. This large metal container that is known for feeding heating radiators to the citizens of Zagreb is visible from many parts of the city.
HEP is presenting a competition as they are looking for the best visual design for the heating monstrosity. Graffiti artists by default must create something using HEP colors, including red, white, and blue, with the possibility of yellow, green, and shades of gray. On the other hand, it is not recommended for the artists to use orange, purple, and black.
There has been a proposal to use LED lighting for the graffiti painted on the tank to make it visible at night, but HEP emphasizes that this project is based on attractiveness and showing HEP’s constant concern for the environment.
“The aim of the project is to raise identity, aesthetic and urban value of the building and its operation and implementation as a complex heating plant in the urban structure of the city,” states HEP, adding that the same solution can then be replicated for other facilities in Zagreb.
