The international convention will see 80 tattoo artists presenting their work – and creating new ones on the spot
We closed the door on the music festival season along with the last days of summer. Food festivals are still alive and kicking, especially in Istria that’s currently in a state of mass truffle hysteria (no complaints there), but that particular season will be over in a couple of weeks – what can we look forward to in winter? Well, for starters, how about some ink?
Good news for those who have a slight tattoo obsession: on the weekend of November 24-26, the Sports Hall in Kostrena will house the 7th Rijeka Tattoo Expo. This year, the international tattoo convention will assemble 80 tattoo artists coming from ten European countries, making for the most grandiose edition of the expo so far.
The artists will show off their skills and compete in no less than 13 categories, with the winner of the Best of Show – the most coveted title of the entire weekend – to be announced on Sunday.
Apart from the competition, visitors are sure to enjoy the entertainment programme ranging from music gigs to dance performances and a little bit of magic.
It’s worth noting that the 7th Rijeka Tattoo Expo will again have a humanitarian note; this year, they are donating part of the proceedings to the Basketball Club Kostrena – Wheelchair Basketball. The fund raising action for the sports club has begun in June at the bike fest of the Fluminensia Riders MC, and continued at the Dark ‘O’ Metal festival organised by Ri Rock in July. More donations will be collected at the the 7th Rijeka Tattoo Expo, and the commendable action is also supported by Kostrena Municipality, Kostrena Tourist Board, the Public utility company Kostrena, and the NL Professional Hairdresser & Barber Shop.
