True English alternative rock icons and one of the most influential bands of all time, The Cure, will headline INmusic Festival #14! The Cure will have their debut Croatian performance on the main stage of the country’s biggest open air festival, to be held at Jarun Lake from June 24 to June 26, 2019.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cult band, The Cure confirmed their plans to play a festival tour in 2019, which includes the 14th edition of INmusic in Zagreb. As part of the long-awaited festival tour that will mark the forthcoming festival season, the alternative rock pioneers will perform in Croatia for the first time. INmusic is featured as one of The Cure’s lucky chosen festivals, alongside some of the biggest European festivals such as Roskilde, Rock Werchter, Mad Cool Festival, Florence Rocks, Rock En Seine and NOS Alive, and EXIT who will also host the celebrated rockers on their upcoming tour, reports Jutarnji List on November 30, 2018.
The INmusic festival’s organizers emphasized the importance of having The Cure at their upcoming festival release:
“The INmusic festival continues to grow, and as an independent festival, it fosters an enviable international reputation and strives to present to the local audience every edition featuring artists whose music has shaped our world and has left an indelible cultural trace for many generations. In that sense, we have finally fulfilled the years-long dream of our team to bring The Cure to Croatia and celebrate 40 years of a truly remarkable career with them.”
The Cure is undoubtedly one of the most successful alternative rock bands of all time – with over 27 million albums sold, 13 studio albums and more than 30 singles. And, it is certainly undisputed that just a few others apart from Robert Smith can boast the fact that they’ve shaped an entire music genre and influenced so many musicians around the world to the same extent as The Cure. The cult 1989 album “Disintegration” helped The Cure secure the title as one of the best British bands over the last 50 years – and they’ve managed to remain relevant until the album ”4:13 Dream”, released in 2016, which also did not disappoint. With the announcement of new material coming out next year and marking 40 years since the release “Three Imaginary Boys” in 1979, The Cure won’t slow down even in 2019.
