Johann Sebastian Bach to Be Celebrated in Karlovac

ZAGREB, March 22, 2018 – In a bid to popularise classical music, cafes, facilities in public parks and music halls in the town of Karlovac will play Bach on Friday evening and Saturday morning on the occasion of the 333rd anniversary of the birth of Johann Sebastian Bach.

This campaign including two programmes, one of which is called “Music Night” and the other “Coffee with Bach”, was initiated by the local music school in that town 50 kilometres south of Zagreb. The school is also organising a 7-hour concert on Friday until midnight in two concert halls that will be broadcast in local parks.

The school is also holding educative workshops about the life and work of this great German composer and musician of the Baroque period who was born on 21 March 1685 in Eisenach and died on 28 July 1750 in Leipzig.

Music students from Zagreb, Jastrebarsko, Labin, Pula, Slatina, Virovitica, Varaždin, and Split and several foreign musicians will join in these concerts.
