Haircut 25 Kuna, growth colouring 35 Kuna, nail installation 65 Kuna, half-hour massage 55-75 Kuna, depilation 25-45 Kuna, permanent nail polish 55 Kuna…
These are all regular prices in the first Croatian Beauty Outlet, which opened ten days ago in the Vrbik area in Zagreb. The prices of regular beauty treatments are too high so owner Maja Jurinac, 29-year-old economics graduate, decided to try something different. She was joined by her sister and best friend and together they began a business, Jutarnji List wrote on July 27, 2016.
“Beauty should be available to everyone. Meaning it is not excessively expensive and have a range of services in one place. With this idea, saving time and money for clients, I went into business. My services are 30-40% cheaper than the average. I didn’t expect much work before the fall, but I was wrong. I am satisfied with the number of women and men who come for various treatments,” said Maja.
A range of services is offered: hair styling, massages, depilation, laser hair removal, eyelash installation, manicure… “No more need to go to several places to beautify all body parts,” Maja explained.
Regardless of the low prices, the business is profitable. The profit margin is not as high, but she wanted to have clients who come regularly and for multiple services.
“I wouldn’t open a salon if it wasn’t worth it, but it helps that I work with my sister and best friend. Each has her own job, we’ve been at this for years and are experienced in our work so it is easier to work for ourselves,” Maja added.
The salon has a membership plan. Everyone is given a card with their first visit, with discounts adding up with time. This makes the clients feel special, as if part of something and important to someone. The first guests to arrive to the Outlet showed her the cards make them happy.
“I have many plans for the future, would like to have the Outlet open outside of Zagreb. But slowly, this depends on the demand. Right now I have trouble staffing – I’ve hired a hair stylist, but am looking for another girl to work on eyelashes. Can’t find anyone although the salary is fair,” said Maja, who hopes to solve her staff problem soon and be ready for the fall rush of clients.
