Tuna Fever Rogoznica 2017 came to an end.
The crew of the ship ‘Mojo’ led by captain Maro Mihočević have won the third ‘Tuna fever Rogoznica 2017’, reports Pomorac.net, on August 28, 2017. Captain Luka Colnago’s team ‘Game on’ won second place, and in third place was the crew of the ship named ‘Starac’ led by captain Ivan Ledenko. ‘Taboo team’ won the Trophy Cup with 46.6 kg heavy fish.The award for the biggest fish, which weighed 69.8 kilograms, went to the ‘Mojo’ crew with captain Mihočević.
This competition, organized by the club ‘Big Game Fishing Croatia’ from Split, brought together fishermen from all over Croatia and the world; from the United Arab Emirates, Germany, Slovenia, Italy, Greece, Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Czech Republic and Russia. The three-day competition saw more than 250 contestants competing. Boris Županović, the president of the Big Game Croatia club was very pleased with the event saying:
“I am happy that we have managed to bring together top professionals and big game lovers, and made a true spectacle in Rogoznica that was visited by tens of thousands of local and foreign tourists. What really makes me happy is the big interest that the young ones have shown, which proves that big game lovers have successors in this interesting sport. This competition once again proved that Croatia stands alongside much more popular destinations. Given the success of this great event, we can already announce that we will see you next year in Rogoznica,” says Županovic.
The winners of this competition will compete in the World Championship in Costa Rica. in 2018.
“With plenty of adrenaline, competitive spirit and cheerful mood during the three days of fishing in the Rogoznica Sea, the organisers have made an effort and shared the caught tuna to numerous visitors on the Rogoznica waterfront, thus enriching the tourist offer of this place,” says Sandra Jakelić, the head of the municipality which, keeps breaking tourist records each year.
The winners, as well as all the contestants, celebrated the end of the Tuna Fever Rogoznica 2017 with champagne, while the official event was closed by the county of Šibenik Knin County, Goran Pauk. The fešta continued long into the night with the live performance of Željko Bebek, legendary rock musician and a great fisherman who also participated in the competition. The event was closed by the amazing fireworks that lit up the Rogoznica night sky.
